Camila Vick - The.BlkRoom

Born and raised on the West Side of Chicago, Camíla Isabel is a multifaceted artist whose talents span vocals, poetry, performance, and visual and installation art, cultivated over the past 10 years. Beyond her artistic practice, Camíla is the founder and CEO of The.BlkRoom, a co-creation studio and community organization empowering Black and Brown artists and creatives in Chicago since 2021.

The.BlkRoom space offers a safe, inclusive space for emerging and seasoned artists with a tiered membership program catered to meet creatives where they are and propel them to where they hope to be. With a vibrant community of over 7,000 community members and growing, the organization hosts showcase events, educational workshops, and holds space for special projects —most recently launching their Corridor Visual Arts Gallery, and the Bloom Residency for Black women — featured on Block Club Chicago. Committed to fostering inclusivity, creativity, and empowerment, The.BlkRoom strives to continue to grow as a hub for Chicago’s artistic community on the west side.

In addition to her role as founder, Camíla serves as Outreach Coordinator for the Elastic Arts Outreach Program and as Dark Matter Residency Coordinator. She also leads marketing and communications development at the Niles Township Early Childhood Alliance. Her ongoing commitment to fostering inclusive and creative communities highlights her significant contributions to the city’s artistic and social equity initiatives.

Camíla continues to push boundaries and inspire others to thrive within Chicago’s vibrant arts scene through her personal projects, as well as her arts and administrative work.
